Themed "trace the origin of gourmet food and share the distinctive characteristics", the Chengdu Asian Food Festival, which is a global cultural event with high popularity, showcases the culture and history of well-known Sichuan cuisine, so as to enhance people's interest in and understanding of Sichuan food and Chinese culture.
Centered on three topics of "Communication & Integration", "Cross-Industry & Innovation" and "Inheritance & Perseverance", a host of organizations and celebrities are invited to the China (Chengdu) International Food Culture Summit Forum.
They include UNESCO Asian sector of Creative City of Gastronomy, a number of international Sister Cities and big names from both the food industry and other relevant fields such as science and technology, finance, culture, media and the academia.
Special exhibitions on international food culture are held. "Food, a basic necessity -- a cultural tour over the dining table" is shown. And Chengdu gastronomy mapping and food-themed tourism routes featuring local food are co-introduced by joint tourism platforms, airlines, and travel agencies. Besides, world-famous food columnists and gourmet tourism celebrities are invited to test such tourism products.
A series of activities with the theme of "A Bite of Asia" are held, during which events such as food sampling and cooking contests are carried out among Asian countries and regions to promote food-related communications.
